PARÂMETROS DE TEXTUALIDADE E MECANISMOS DE COESÃO: UMA ANÁLISE DO TEXTO “A ÚLTIMA CRÔNICA”, DE FERNANDO SABINO
Abstract
This article, entitled "Textuality Parameters and Cohesion Mechanisms: An Analysis of the Text 'The Last Chronicle' by Fernando Sabino," aims to discuss fundamental concepts of Text Linguistics, highlighting the parameters of textuality, cohesion, and coherence, as well as analyzing the presence of cohesion mechanisms in the selected literary text. The study is based on the theoretical contributions of Halliday and Hasan (1976), regarding textual cohesion mechanisms, and Beaugrande and Dressler (1981), regarding textuality parameters. The methodology adopted is qualitative, bibliographical, and analytical in nature, based on a literature review on Text Theory and the application of these theoretical assumptions to the analysis of the chronicle under study. The results show the occurrence of different cohesion mechanisms, such as reference, substitution, ellipsis, conjunction, and lexical cohesion, which contribute to the internal organization of the text, favoring thematic continuity and the construction of meaning. It can be concluded, therefore, that the articulation between the parameters of textuality and the mechanisms of cohesion constitutes a fundamental element for understanding the functioning of the text as a communicative unit.
